Roasted Nuts and Seeds - The Perfect Snack

Buying unroasted nuts and seeds can not only save you money (check out Trader Joe's selection) but also gives you the freedom to flavor according to your tastes.

Buy unroasted, raw and organic nuts and seeds, turn a pan on medium (no need to add oil since the nuts and seeds produce their own, natural oils) and add nuts and seeds to hot pan. It's best to roast different kinds of nuts and seeds separately since each one has a different roasting limit.

Don't walk away from the roasting pan since the nuts and seeds can burn very quickly. Continue to stir and after a few short minutes they will be done. You can leave as is or sprinkle with salt or other seasonings such as rosemary or sage. Enjoy hot or store in air-tight container for later (recycled jelly jars are perfect for this).

Nuts and seeds contain Essential Fatty Acids (the good kind of fat), are high in protein and vitamins, not to mention vitamins and minerals.

Nuts and seeds make a great on-the-go snack for kids, pregnant moms and dads. They are easily portable and don't make hands very messy.

Let us know what your favorite nuts and seeds are and how you like to roast them.

I'm currently heavily into Pistachios and love to grind seeds up as part of my morning breakfast.
